For a several years, I've enjoyed working with comparing and contrasting symbols and concepts relative to faith and technology and faith *in* technology. I’ve always felt a need to balance my expression in a way that says ‘organic’ and ‘technology’, for example, the contrast of clay and computer parts, or, the contrast of spirituality (organic) and electronic tools to make our lives easier or more productive (technology).

In 2006, I completed a series of mandalas made from clay, incorporating various pieces of computers and other computer-related bits (screws, keyboard keys, wires, etc.) The series consists of nine pieces total.

Mandala: –noun
1. Asian Art. A schematized representation of the cosmos, chiefly characterized by a concentric configuration of geometric shapes, each of which contains an image of a deity or an attribute of a deity.
2. (in Jungian psychology) A symbol representing the effort to reunify the self.

Since 2008, I have been developing of a new body of work which temporarily steps outside this theme and is not technology oriented, but focuses more on transitions and how we, as humans, cope with life-changing transitions.  Currently, it is figure-based on the female form, stemming from my own transitions as a jumping-off point.  My hope is to not necessarily have each piece dictate a specific transition, but to facilitate thought about transitions in general, maybe to trigger memories or inspire a connection with a current experience. I hope to have this body of work completed within the next 2 years.  I plan to have at least 9 or more pieces in this series.
